[ SVVS Visit to Amberley Museum - July 2010 ]
::
This visit was in lieu of the scheduled Sunday meet
cancelled due to the closure of the Dog and Duck. D&D was
traditionally not a good turnout so guess this must have transferred to
the "Amberley Amble" which too had a pretty poor turnout. Four
cars, plus one late, and only nine people. This meant that we were not
able to take advantage of the minimum 10 people “group attendance”
to reduce entrance and lunch costs.
The Amberley Museum and Heritage Centre site is enormous which really
cannot be explored properly in one day. There is simply too much to see
and involves a fair bit of walking, or chufferpuffing, or clipclopping
or opentopbussing. Entire buildings of exhibits provided by such as
British Telecom, Southern Electricity, Southdown etc etc. Some of the
excuses for Members not coming was that they had been there before. I
will need to return simply to see more of it! The text and photos are by Bozi Mohacek.
