:: [ SVVS Dinner - Reigate Manor Hotel, Reigate - February 2011 ] ::

Reigate Manor Hotel was again the venue for the 2012 Annual SVVS Dinner and was attended by a smashing turnout of over 100 people. This was the third Dinner presided over by the new Chairman Bozi Mohacek (aka Vintman), ably assisted by Mrs Chairman Julie Mohacek who in the absence of Tony Russell acted as Master of Ceremonies, who organised the Raffle, -  and who also presented the cups. Raffle ticket sales were carried out by Julie, Thelma Oakes and Sue Laing.

Despite the problem of the printout of the seating plan seemingly having one table short, we were most impressed by the speed and efficiency of the Manager's response to having an additional table laid and ready without any fuss or panic. Very professional, and many thanks. Fortunately it was not needed and disappeared as quickly as it came. Very friendly and efficient staff who were almost unnoticeable by their super efficiency! The use of the small Brokes rook as pre-dinner drinks seating area was a great success. Not much can be faulted with the meal and the service.

After the superb meal, the SVVS Cups and accolades went to:  Steve and Madeleine Brooks who got the Chairman's Cup for winning the Treasure Hunt; the Hero Cup was awarded to Robin Vince for the 'Vehicle Restoration of the Year'; the Wollett Award for winning the SVVS Quiz went to Nick Wollett; and for Outstanding Services to the SVVS, the President's cup was presented to Chris Cuss.

We were lucky enough to obtain the services of our own Michael Doughty as the Guest Speaker, who apart from collecting Veteran cars is the Director of the Veteran Car Club and runs a handful of music equipment manufacturing companies. Michael was amongst one of the first British businessmen to venture into having his own manufacturing company in China, - the joys of which were part of his talk. The proceeds of the raffle went, as is the tradition, to the Speaker's chosen charity: Music for Youth, a national music education charity, who provide free access to performance opportunities for young musicians.
