:: [ SVVS Dinner - Reigate Manor Hotel, Reigate - October 2022 ] ::

Photos by  Bozi Mohacek & Malcolm Ward

Reigate Manor Hotel was again the venue for the Annual SVVS Dinner and was  superbly officiated over by our New Chairman Malcolm Bailey and his wife Sheena.  This year the event was held in the slightly smaller 'Garden Room' which seems to have a slightly more intimate feel than the main ballroom we usually have for larger number of our Members. The Dinner was attended by 72 people. which was one more than last year, and indicated that our Members were keen for a get-together despite what had been happening with the aftereffects of the Coronavirus Pandemic.

The normal evening  procedure was followed of first meeting in the bar and then being called to the dining area by the Master of Ceremonies Tony Russell. There he welcomed everybody for coming, and especially mentioned Clive and Myetta Brown, - Clive being one of our Founding Members returning to he fold,  -  and also welcomed the Guest Speaker William Harmsworth and his wife Susan.

Not much could be faulted with the quality of the meal and the efficiency of the service which smoothly bought us to the ceremonial bit of the evening, the presentation of the SVVS Awards. The new President Bozi Mohacek was awarded The PRESIDENT'S CUP for "Services to the SVVS fulfilling various Committee roles, then as Chairman 2009- 2021".  The CHAIRMAN'S CUP was presented to Matt and Ann Tester as Winners of the Treasure Hunt. The HERO CUP was awarded to Andy Hall for the restoration of his 1935 Frazer Nash. The Quiz Award was presented to Zak Stiling for winning the Annual Quiz. There was also one more unusual award presented, - this to new President Bozi Mohacek, which was an engraved glass Tankard, and was the normal parting gift bestowed by the Society on a Retiring Chairman.

We were lucky to have William Harmsworth MBE as our Guest Speaker who gave a witty speech of his life and experiences as a Justice of the Peace in the Southern Area. Although there was no official raffle held this year, we donated £200 to his charity which was the Mole Valley Stroke Club.
