The Dog & Duck used
to be our headquarters for the Winter Meetings but the Covid Epidemic
changed the local scene and we have moved on. This remains however a
Sunday Lunchtime outside venue for us where this year we had a good
turnout of some 25 cars, - this despite this being the day that the Historic
Commercials make their way to Brighton and the locals go to the popular
Cow Pie Country Show. It is however a place new SVVS machinery is
frequently unveiled and traditionally it is blessed with brilliant
weather, as this time. A number of SVVS Members were either partaking on the Historic
Commercial run with their vehicles, or were marshalling, or were
observing, many having got back here later on. Primary photographer,
President Bozi Mohacek, was absent Marshalling, and stand-by photographers
were away early so some cars at this venue have been missed.
In the very 'unusual not frequently seen at SVVS Meetings' category came
an unusual CycleKart on a trailer. It is an
approximate 2/3rds replica of the 1926 American 'Hefling Special' built to
the CycleKart formula with a 200cc single cylinder Honda OHV engine. These
home-made budget racers have been seen at Brooklands and look great fun!
A couple of motorcycles also turned up, the 1924 Indian ridden by Matt
Tester, and the 1924 Francis Barnett ridden by Chas Moody, the Fanny B having
been premiered here in 2018.
Another unusual vehicle was the very original 1957 Vauxhall Victor Super
in same ownership for over 40 years and only second owner. It was very
nice to see them all, as well as all the trusty regulars without whom
there would be no Society. |
