The Fox Revived is a
thriving busy pub and highly popular eatery so that the standard tarmacked
car park is generally entirely packed with no spare spaces available.
Fortunately, they have an overflow paddock a little away from the building
which is an overflow field we knew from our last visit, so we beetled
there directly.
Although a newish venue, it has proved quite popular, and the paddock can
very quickly become totally filled up; both sides and eventually in the
middle. The paddock is grass, and because it is on a slope, there can be
problems of wheel-spin which could be problematic when wet. The pub was as
usual very welcoming having the staff visit the paddock, and them
mentioning our visit on their Facebook page.
In view that evenings are drawing in, we have advanced the starting times
from 8 pm to 6pm which means we are ahead of the general public. The
evening weather was fine and dry; possibly coming to the end of the heat-wave,
so shirtsleeves. The sun was setting and it was getting chilly as we
started leaving at the time we would have otherwise been arriving;
photographically quite challenging as distinct dark and shade which had to
be equalised.
This year the covid fallout is still resulting in reduced turnouts so the
paddock was not overcrowded, but just about right. We had a turnout of 32
vehicles, mostly from the 'classic' age group. Good show of five Jags,
four MGs, two Rollses and a bevy of other makes including a Porsche
powered Rawson. Two new members joined on the night, so a success all
round!
