The Great SVVS Summer Picnic was not held this year at
Church Farm because Mr
& Mrs Chairman were having a year off. This year the event was held
at the Lakeside View Pub in Beare Green adjacent to Henfold Lakes. The
weather had threatened rain but sun shone most of the time; a bit windy
at times. The arrangements were made by our Publicity Officer Tony
Russell whose local haunt this is, but the organising logistics
precluded the supply of the usual free glass of plonk and hot dog. The
pub is next to a lovely lake used for fishing and they kindly allowed us
to use the adjacent field where we mustered 21 proper vehicles. Being a
pub, there was no shortage of alcohol and most members took advantage of
the bar and coffee faculties, - not to say the loos!
