Star traditionally follows on the day after the SVVS exhibition of
vehicles at Reigate Tunnrl during the Heritage Open Days. As the Tunnel
takes up effectively the entire day, this means that Members wives
tend not to let their menfolk attend both. Very much the case this time.
The Star in Lingfield signals that the 'summer season' is drawing to a
close, which is a bit of a shame. The weather at this time of year can
be a bit iffy, but this year it was great and was on our side. The sky
was blue and the sun shone brilliantly; no need for jackets this year.
The turnout was some 16 proper Member vehicles and a couple of modernish
Aston Martins paying us a visit, hopefully to join. It also provided the
annual visit of the serial ex-member Leo
Smith, of the famed enormous 'Outwood Flyer' American La France
fame, who threatened to rejoin, - as he does every year !
