Some of the SVVS Members who have been spectating on the London to
Brighton Veteran Car Run traditionally meet up later at the Black Horse
in Hookwood, Horley for a noggin and natter. This year the weather for
the Run was glorious and relatively warm. The sun shone and the sky was
blue. This year the turnout of SVVS Members at the Black Horse was quite
good, there being 20 suitable SVVS cars in attendance. However there seems to be a steadily decreasing number of general
spectators along the route, which was a great shame. The Run may
possibly be losing its appeal due to the dreadful traffic. Following the
couple of fatalities in recent years changes have been made to the route. Perhaps better signage, more
Police and more Stewards would improve the situation, and/or specific
routing for the Veterans outside normal traffic could be introduced?

SVVS Members on
the Brighton Veteran Run - November 2021
A number of
SVVS Members have veteran cars that are eligible for the London to
Brighton Veteran Car run, - and four of them were on the run this year :
the perennial Michael Doughty in his 1902 Wolseley 10HP Tonneau, Grandfather's
Rights David Smart in his 1905 Cadillac Limousine, Robert Pedler in the 1904 De
Dion Bouton 6HP Rear Entrance Tonneau, and Penelope Chew with David Ralph in a
1904 De Dion Bouton 6HP Two Seater. Unfortunately all our photographers failed
to get photos of the cars on this year's run, - so these are from
2019
