The Jolly Farmer in Horne used to be the winter HQ of the Surrey Vintage Vehicle
Society until it closed down and we had to move elesewhere. It subsequently
re-opened with new management and has held a number of vehicle events in the
extensive fields surrounding the pub. It seems the events have become known via Facebook by the general 'Classic Car'
fraternity with a very free-n-easy atmosphere with no charges for entry or
exhibiting. Bit like 'breakfast meets' but at lunchtime. Cars were mainly
modernish classics with predominance of the 'go-faster' non-standard or
modified street-rod variety' and/or some with simply louder exhausts ! Lovely
sunny day, the ground was hard and the grass had been cut, but left so some of
the ultra low machinery was worried about the 'hay' catching fire from their exhausts. Lots of local ales
in the pub and outside, and burger and ice-cream stands.
