Just as we were thinking that there was finally a light at the end of the tunnel and that our second 'Field Meeting' was the last prior to general release, we have been told that the 'lock down' has been extended for at least another month. Normal open meetings at at the pub are scheduled to re-commence now in July, but in the meantime we are allowed to hold Closed Field Meetings on private ground open only to SVVS members socially distanced. It was therefore rather nice to have had the hottest day of the year for our Meeting at Church Farm. This meeting was to have been taking place in parallel with a separate meeting at Fidlers Field but due to numbers it was eventual decided to combine both meetings at Church Farm. Fortunately Church Farm has a large open field we have used previously for SVVS Picnics, and a large open air pole barn and plenty of hard-standing in reserve in case it rains. It didn't! It was glorious and was a great place for an impromptu picnic had by most people. So with 'no-shows' balancing the 'on-the-days', we had about 30 people and 25 cars. There were additionally a couple of hundred sheep nearby hiding in the long grass!! |
