The Dog & Duck used to be our Evening Winter Meetings Headquarters
until Covid arrived, the aftermath of which created a new type of drinking
culture of small groups at which the Dog & Duck was very successful.
They subsequently introduced a Children's Play Area in the overflow car
park area with some seriously big rides. They had always been a good
eatery, so for a while the the place was packed out, changing
the local scene and leaving no room for us.
So we had to move on, - which is a shame as they now seem to close early
some evenings. We had moved our Headquarters just down the road to the
Jolly Farmer in Horne, which subsequently closed amidst rumours of a
becoming a Housing Estate.
Meantime, we have also
always held a Sunday Lunchtime meeting here, which has normally been very
well attended and for which the weather has normally been very good.
Likewise this year, the weather was good with lots of contrasting sunshine
through dense fast moving clouds which made photography difficult, - either
too bright or bit dark. Notwithstanding, we had 26 proper cars , which was
a five up on last year, and a couple of moderns. Cars were mostly regulars
but we also had some not-often seen cars; like the the little yellow/brown Morris
8 and the white Junior Presidential Sprite carrying Mrs and Junior .
Lovely day was had by all !
