Another interesting photo received from Mark Dawber (New
Zealand) from a forum of old photos asking for identification of
the vehicle registered in Westphalia. --
Our
Ariejan Bos advises his system leads to a cca
1903 Dennis Rear Entrance Tonneau.
Many similarities: dumb-irons; tubular chassis; bonnet and louvres on
top; wheel and more.
Do we see a genuine Dennis or a German make
developed by Dennis. If it is genuine Dennis from Guilford UK, what is
it doing in Germany in 1903?

Anzani on c1905 Buchet Pacer
Another lovely photo of a Stayer and an Entraineur marked Grosse
and Anzani. -- The
name Anzani is famous for motorcycles and aero engines but Italian
Alessandro Anzani started as a racing cyclist of some repute 1897 who
became an Entraineur, riding the motorcycle. Then a racing motorcyclist
to be first world champion in the history of motorcycling. Started
making own engines/motorcycles, became world famous, later made aero
engines in three countries. He is on a
Buchet
powered Pacer.

1905 Brazier 15HP Tonneau
Another interesting photo received from Mark Dawber (New
Zealand) from a forum of photos asking for identification of
the year and model. -- LC
2412 is a London CC registration mid 1905. The car has non-droopy
dumb-irons and a relatively large bonnet so is therefore likely to be
the cca
1905 Brazier 15HP Tonneau.
The car
would have been built at the time that Georges Richard was leaving to
found Unic and company was changing from Richard Brazier to Societe Des
Automobiles Brazier.

1906 Adams Hewitt 10HP Buggy
Another interesting photo received from Mark Dawber (New
Zealand) asking for more info on car suggested as a Star in
Singapore. -- Our Star expert Neale Lawson knows
of the car and advises it would have been a cca 1906 Little Star 7HP, but
this is not it ! The car on photo is a cca
1906 Adams Hewitt 10 HP Two-Seater & Dickey,
made in Bedford, presumably a later replacement car with retained S1
registration. The Star was the second car in Singapore, was imported
by Mrs Annie Dare.

Fascinating photo from Helena (UK) asking
what is the make of car in 1912 Women's Protest.
-- Photo is showing Women Suffragettes
from the Hastings and St Leonards district in Sussex taking part in a
'votes for women' campaign just before World War One. Women's Social
and Political Union (WSPU) had the headquarters in a shop in Trinity
Street. Attempts now by 'Women's Voice' to trace descendants. - Ariejan
Bos advisees it is cca

in Somerset.

1907 Siddeley Limousine
Another lovely photo received from Mark Dawber (New Zealand) from
a forum of old photos for ID. -- Research advises
this is a known photo of c19067 car at Portlkand Place in London. Built
by the Vickers 'Wolseley' organization which had just parted with
Herbert Austin and purchased rights to Siddeley Autocar, and JD
Siddeley as GM. This is quite a large vehicle, no front door, medium
bonnet, so probably cca
1907 Siddeley Limousine, poss 30HP.
Name of car changed 1910 to Wolseley Siddeley.

Boiler) made in 1987 where cars are being investigated by IMCDB. Film
is about eras of perestroika and glasnost in Estonian rural life. --
Very blurry picture but adequate to note
the outline the hump on the radiator header tank, the logo on the
largish radiator, and the size of the largish bonnet which suggest a
post Georges Richard, Paris French cca

1911 Panhard Levassor Two Seater
Another lovely photo received from Mark
Dawber (New
Zealand) from
a forum of old photos from Nantes in France asking for ID?
- The car is from one of the
earliest Frenchcar manufacturers based Paris 1887, well
established by this time. Fashions look c 1914. ID features are a
relatively conventional looking flat radiator top, shortish bonnet
suggesting a smaller car, a relatively intricate scuttle and unusual
rear dickey seats. This is cca
1911 Panhard Levassor Two Seater,10 or
15CV.

1912 Enfield 20HP Phaeton
Following on photo from Helena (UK)
relating 1906 Gladiator below, she sent another unknown car with the same
registration. -- The
new photo shows an equally unusual car from a British
armaments/motorcycle manufacturer Enfield who at that time was being
taken over by Alldays & Onions. Keeping old reg number was in
early days sign that you were rich enough to have owned car when
impossibly expensive. This is a
cca 1912 Enfield
Phaeton, Many models,
not many sold, probably the 20HP.

1912 Lancia Kappa Landaulette
Cinema screen grab taken from an Italian
silent film "Filibus" made in 1915 where cars are being
investigated by IMCDB. Film is future science fiction film about a lady
sky pirate and detective chasing her.
-
The car is rather helpfully showing a
Lancia Badge on the radiator but unusually has an additional 'old
fashioned radiator' below it. Confirmed by Lancia expert Roland
Grazebrook that it is a cca
1912 Lancia Landaulette, but Kappa not
a Theta which is bigger and makes it bit heavier to drive.

Lovely family photo received from Kevin Seager (UK)
asking for identification of his great uncle's truck. From number plate
he believes it 1921 to 25. -- Lovely
sign written lorry with an unusual solid rear wheel, normally wooden
spoke. Registration NW 78 is Leeds CBC late 1921. Rear view also shows
the transverse spring and the worm drive to the rear axle advising this
is a cca
1921 Ford Model TT Flatbed Truck,
longer version of the Model T, made 1917-1928. Max top speed 15mph.

Batch of lovely
photo received from Mark Dawber (New
Zealand) from a
French forum "1923 démonstration d'un châssis français en
Grande Bretagne". --
Much research later advises it is a London
CC registered 1923 Holle Automobile
Prototype, designed by Alexander
Albert Holle, holder of many patents, including aero, working for
French's Motor Engineering Works, London, developing a four-wheel
drive/steer and all-wheel braking car. Later lorry developments Vulcan-Holverta

IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:
1924 Motosacoche 1000cc Pacer
Charming photo pasted on a forum asking for purpose of chap on the
motorcycle. -- He is
the 'Pacer' for the cyclist behind. Cycle pacing was common in late
1890s to make cyclists faster in long distance racing. Early pacers
were tandem bikes, then motorcycles. From photo, seems they started
them, young! Bicycles had smaller front wheel to adopt a crouching
position. Motorcycle looks a purpose built machine by
Motosacoche of Switzerland using their own MAG 1000cc V twin engine.

Rudge 500cc Sidecanoe
While browsing through vintage car websites in our investigations we
frequently come across photographs of other unidentified vehicles and
put them aside for future investigation. Source is not
known. -- It
is also not known if the motorcycle was being used to transport the canoe
or if the canoe was acting as the sidecar. The motorcycle is a cca
1925 Rudge-Whitworth 500. Successful
racing machines 1911-46. Company made knock-off detachable wheels and
patents passed in Jaguar cars.

about a communist German shipyard worker ordered by USSR to organise
strikes in Germany -- Bus
from German car manufacturer based in Berlin, Neue
Automobil-Gesellschaft (NAG) started by AEG in 1902, started
commercials double-deckers in 1906, used by Berlin operator ABOAG.
Round rad, so this is no later cca 1925
DS Single Decker Bus.

The car is French, and the
identification features are recognisable Renault coal-scuttle bonnet
but with louvres in the grille and a small Diamond logo suggesting a

1928 Renault Monasix RY2 Saloon.

1933 Morris Minor Two-Seater Sports
Interesting photo pasted on the AACA forum (USA)
asking for identification of the car. Photo bought in an auction in the
UK around 1960 and presuming it is a European car. --
Put
aside for later. Indeed an English car from the number plate which
indicates it was registered in UK at Manchester County Borough Council
in 1933. The car is cca
1933 Morris Minor Two-Seater Sports
introduced in 1931 as a £100 car competing with Austin Seven.
Available also as four-seater saloon.

1933 Singer Nine Sports Coupe
Another interesting photo sent in by Alec
Stevens (UK)
relating to Great Uncle Norman Spencer. It is believed this was his
last car.
--And what a lovely looking last car to
have! The registration AKN 458 shows it was registered at Kent County
Council at about September 1933. The car is relatively unusual in being
a lowered chassis cca
1933 Singer Nine Sports Coupe,
launched that year, having 926cc OHC four-cylinder engine developing
31bhp. Top speed 68mph. Introduced as an open car.

1937 Standard Flying 10 Saloon
Lovely family photo pasted on the Rootschat forum (UK)
asking for identification. -- Reg. not
visible so no help in dating but there are a few pointers which are
quite helpful. The first is the waterfall grille and the central emblem
on the radiator. The emblem is a Union Jack flag which advises it is a
Standard automobile and flag gives the name to range as 'flying'.

cca
1937 Standard Flying 10 Saloon, pre

Morris 10 Series M
Cinema screen grab taken from Turkish film "Cicero" made in
2019 where cars are being investigated by IMCDB. Films is about a local
guy who works as a butler in the British Embassy in Turkey during WW2
and starts working as a German spy. --
Car is LHD but looks British, bit difficult to pinpoint. Headlamps on
wings, four door forward/back opening, no louvre brightwork or any
upper radiator motif. Similarities to Austin but is a cca
1939 Morris 10 Series M with various
bits missing.

Presto Fire Extinguisher
In 2017 had enquiry to ID hand size chrome gizmo from an ex-British
Embassy Daimler in Helsinki found to be a UK Bradville
mini CBM fire extinguisher. --
Recently similar device on AACA forum, a 1950s
mini by Merlite USA, Presto
"CB", using secret German
WW2 formula used by Luftwaffe in aircraft suppression, then speciality
fire extinguishers, also in fumigation processes, using
ChloroBromoMethane gas, now banned by Montreal Protocol as toxic and
ozone depleting. Same origin?

IDENTIFICATION AND DATING: 1967
Neckar Jagst 2 Saloon
Couple of photos from Georgio Tardi (Madeira) not
being quite sure, despite its looks, of what this was, -- In
1929 there were two NSU businesses in Germany. This car was made by the
other, NSU-FIAT company in Heilbronn which made Fiats, renamed in 1957
as Neckar, lasting to 1971. The first generation Jagst 600 1956-67 was
based on the Fiat 600, and second generation 1966-69 was the Jagst 2
(770) on introduction of the Fiat 600D. Photo is of a
Jagst
