AND INTERNATIONAL INFORMATION ASSISTANCE

::
The SVVS Website currently receives
approximately 500,000
hits a year and the "HELP
PAGE" is internationally the most
visited 'page' on the site. We receive numerous e-mails from historians
and motoring enthusiasts from all over the world with the request to
identify vehicles from old photographs. We can help with identification
of Classic cars because most of us are old enough to remember them as
new, and owning Vintage or Veteran vehicles, many of us, and/or our
associates, are also specialists in own make or type of vehicle -
These Help Pages are therefore devoted to some of the interesting enquiries
received, and information that we have provided. While page is
being built, enquiries are in received order, - when completed, cars are in year order:

and 1929 Chevrolet LQ
Another photograph from a new batch
received from George
Nica (Romania)
who collects car photos. These are new
from his unidentified file and this one may have been
taken in Romania. Can we identify the vehicles.
-- He
suggested they may be Chevrolets, which indeed they are. The one on the
left has an oval logo so is probably a cca

Einheitz PKW
One of a number of interesting photos sent to us by
Andrew Kostin from Moscow (Russia) who
is a collector of old photos. Can we identify this photo of a captured
vehicle once used by the Luftwaffe personnel (judging from the number
plate). -- People are hiding all
identification
features. Looks like German Einheits jeep type vehicle to a unified
design made by Stoewer, BMW, Hanomag, Opel, Auto Union and Ford
Germany. Possibly be RHD as right windscreen is openable?
BMW 325?

DENTIFICATION AND DATING:
1941 Dodge Luxury Liner
Puzzling photograph received from Steve
Phillips (UK)
saying " I am wondering if you
are able to identify the attached car? Photo taken in Cornwall 1960s. It
is left hand drive, split screen, two tone paint, 1940s era? --
Registration OXU19 is London County Council, mid 1954, - which the car
obviously is not. Possibly a 'used import' from America or possibly an
American forces import from Europe. Our
Mark Dawber thinks Chrysler Group product, two-tone, cca
1941 Dodge Luxury Liner.

|
IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:1951
Skoda 1102 Van
Another photograph from the old batch received from George
Nica (Romania)
who collects car photos. These are new
from his unidentified file and this one may have been
taken in Romania. Can we identify the vehicles.
-- As
most photos have featured American cars, bit of head scratching came up
with surprise that the smaller van on the right is from Czechoslovakia
and is cca
1951 Skoda 1102 Van. The lorries on
left seem to be Russian cca 1951 GAZ 51, or similar Polish licensed
Lubin 51.
|
|
IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:Unknown
cca 1930s Truck
Another photograph received from George
Nica (Romania)
who collects car photos. He
bought another batch of pictures and thinks this one may have been
taken in Romania. Can we identify the vehicle.
-- This
one seems to have the rad and logo in plain sight but unfortunately
none of our experts can put a name to it. The logo seems to be round
with wings, which is similar to the 1920s American REO, but nothing
much else is. Radiator is plain so European? Not Hanomag. Help please!
