Kuhlstein Wagenbau Landau
Another interesting photo from a forum of old photos and asking for
identification of the make of vehicle, which seems to be before the
turn of the century and does not seem petrol powered.
-- Interesting
front wheel drive vehicle with all of the 'works' in a steerable
housing under the driver. We found reference for this photo as a cca
1900 Kuhlstein Wagenbau Electric Landau
from the German coach building Company in Berlin making electric
vehicles 1898-1902. Read

Autocar Model VIII Tonneau
Another interesting photo received from Mark
Dawber (New Zealand) from
a forum of photos and asking for information on the vehicle. --
This one has proved very difficult. We did
manage to trace only one single photo that matched to one labeled as cca
1902 Autocar Model VIII. Nothing
similar in Autocar histories. Asked Ariejan Bos who had the photo,
marked VIII, and believes enough similarity to early Autocars for
probability being an Autocar. Read

Celer 8HP Two-Seater
Interesting photo received from Neale Lawson
(UK) relating to our
Leader on HP 186. He advises that Oliver Gray restored last remaining
Celer, made in Nottingham. Is there a connection between Celer, Binks
and Leader.
-- Our researches
advise that the The Celer
Motor Car Company was started by
Charles Binks in Nottingham in 1904. The "Leader" car company
started as 'Charles Binks Ltd' in Nottingham in 1905. So, Yes, there
probably was a connection. Read

Renault Type T 7CV Tonneau
Another interesting photo received from Mark
Dawber (New Zealand) from
a forum of photos and asking for information on the vehicle.
Could it be a Renault? -- Indeed,
this is likely to be a cca
1904 Renault Type T 7CV Tonneau being single cylinder 860cc water cooled with side mounted radiators each
side of bonnet. There was a wide range of models made with side rads,
The number of coils helps to name model,

Clement Bayard 12'24 Tourer
Another interesting photo received from Mark
Dawber (New Zealand) from
a forum of photos and asking for information on the vehicle.
Both vehicles are early and seem French. -- The
vehicle on the left is interesting because it is from the Clement line
of vehicle companies starting 1904. Not a Clement, not a Clement
Panhard but a
cca 1905 Clement Bayard 12'24 Touring Car.
Company was soon making 3,000 cars a year and employing 4,000 workers.
UK end was Clement Talbot.

Orleans 15HP SE Tonneau
Another grainy photo found on the Sheffield City Archives website while (UK)
searching for information on another enquiry. 'Miss Purdy of Woodhouse
in a 1905 Wolseley'. -- As
Wolseleys of 1904/5 period had cascading loops of cooling coils means
that this is not one of them. Wolseley Siddeleys of 1906 and beyond had
conventional radiators. Radiator on the photo has half-hidden sides of
the type advised by Ariejan Bos as being on the
cca 1905 Orleans 15HP. Read

Wolseley 24HP Limousine
Damaged grainy photo found at Sheffield City Archives (UK) while
searching for information on another enquiry. Photo tagged 'Unknown
vehicle, possibly Bean'. -- In
view that the photograph, which we have slightly repaired, shows
cascading loops of cooling coils means that this is quite an early car,
being a cca
1905/6 Wolseley 24HP Open Drive Limousine. Wolseley
origins are in the very earliest days of motoring whereas the Bean car
first made in 1919 was a copy of earlier Perry.

BarreType B 16'24 Tourer
Another interesting photo received from Mark
Dawber (New Zealand) from
a forum of photos and asking for information on the vehicle.
Both vehicles are early and seem French. -- The
vehicle on the right is puzzling as it has a round radiator not on my
list. Ariejan Bos' fantastic photo library advises that early Gean
Barre cars, of Niort near La Rochelle, had round rads with a badge and
advises this is a cca
1909 Barre, probably the Type B 16'24 Tourer,
powered by a Ballot engine.

Fordson 10cwt Van
Another interesting photo received from Mark Dawber (New
Zealand) from a forum of photos and asking for information on
the vehicle. Perhaps a Morris. -- This is a mid 50s van, a common sight in our youth and easy to mix up.
This looks to be a
cca 1955 Fordson E83W 10cwt Van powered by a Ford 30HP
engine. It was available as a car/estate and in numerous commercial and
pickup bodies. These were made between 1938-1957. It was sold in

Unknown Van
Lovely photo received from Allan Bedford (UK) advising that a number
of early coachbuilders photos have recently come to light. Most of the
vehicles have been identified, some by referring to your solutions. The
small van F/P 3749 (Essex or Surrey c1910) is however a problem. --
Beyond a similarity to an early Darracq, it
continues to be a problem. We have nothing resembling this radiator in
our records nor does our veterans Expert Ariejan Bos. Remains Unidentified
so Help Please.
