IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:1907
Delahaye Tourer
Fascinating photo sent to us by
Jose-Vicente Gaspar (Spain) believed
taken in Spain around 1920 or earlier. Some of the people are part of
his family, unfortunately the car is no longer with us. --I
am advised by one of our wise sages that this is a cca
1907 Delahaye Tourer. Delahaye is
French, 1894 to 1954. The item on the front of the running
board is an acetylene generator. The lower side circular cover / lid
releases, to allow access to the canister in which the calcium
carbide was contained.

One of a number of high quality interesting photos sent to us by
Mike Mackrill (UK) who
has a collection of old glass negatives relating to early days of
aviation and who has a website devoted to this
subject called Nostalgic Picture Library. Can we help
out with the cars? -- No
registration to help with dating but we
fell this is a very similar cca

as shown on the previous Help Page,
bedecked/hidden by flowers. This has different windscreen.

Mike Mackrill (UK) who
has a collection of old glass negatives relating to early days of
aviation and who has a website devoted to this
subject called Nostalgic Picture Library. Can we help
out with the cars? --
Registration is BK 499, which is
Portsmouth CBC but dating data is lost. It is possible that this is a
'retained number' or re-body as the body looks lot newer than the registration.
The car is a cca 1910 Humber 16HP
Two-Seater.

Mike Mackrill (UK) who
has a collection of old glass negatives relating to early days of
aviation and who has a website devoted to this
subject called Nostalgic Picture Library. Can we help
out with the cars? -- No
registration to help dating but the bulkhead radiator does point to it
being French. Crisp linear edges to the radiator without curves point
to Renault. This would seem to be cca
1910 Renault CB 12'16 Landaulette.

Further photograph received from Simon Prentis (UK)
saying " Another mystery photo has
emerged from our archives. It was apparently taken in 1916. Do you think
your veterans expert could identify this vehicle for me too? --
There is no mention of where the photo was taken; the last one was in
Wales. If so, a very strange car to find there, more at home on the
plains of Michigan. This is, latest, a cca 1915 Hupmobile Model 32
Roadster. Bonnet style changed completely the next season.

IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:c1917
FIAT Speedster
Lovely photo sent to us by Ed
Margerum (USA) of
US Marine Corps General Smedley Butler at Gettysburg in 1922. Possibly
of European manufacture, right hand drive?. The radiator cap eagle may
not be a clue as Eagles are symbol of the Marine Corps .
-- This is an
Italian car probably manufactured in Poughkeepsie, NY, in the USA,
because it is fitted with Westinghouse pneumatic shocks. Pre 1918 type
rad so it is probably a cca1917
FIAT Speedster, one of larger models,
Tipo 3, 5 or 6.

1923 Wolseley Ten Two-Seater
Further photograph received from Simon Prentis (UK)
saying " another photo from the same
era as the Hupmobile - though nothing is written on it, so I have
neither a date or a name. Probably taken in Wales. To my untrained eye
possibly another model of Hupmobile?" --
Wrong continent; Hup is Michigan, US, this is Aston Birmingham, by Electric
and Ordinance Co, Stellite, part of Vickers later Wolseley, who then
went bankrupt in 1926. This is a cca
1923 Wolseley Ten Two-Seater & Dickey.

IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:
1927 Humber 14'40 Tourer
Further photograph received from Simon Prentis (UK)
saying " Another mystery photo has
emerged from our archives. It was apparently taken in about 1930 in in
Kent. Make, date and value would be great to know! --
Bit of discussion about this one but our Humberman Tony Oakes thinks
this is a cca
1927 Humber 14'40 Tourer. The give away
to him is the wind down windows. All 'front-hinged' doors also a Humber
feature in the mid to late 1920's. Price new for
Tourer would have been £440.

Erskine Model 51 Cabriolet
Another photo received from Georges
Truffaut (Belgium) which
they are trying to
identify. " Does the car shown in the attached pic ring a bell ? It
has a German license plate from the Rheinprovinz.
-- Initially
difficult but close study of the radiator header tank shows a pronounced
upward widows peak. The car was American (Studebaker) but designed for
the European market and did not last long 1927'30. This is a cca 1928
Erskine Model 51 Cabriolet with what looks like
a European body.

IDENTIFICATION AND DATING: 1929
Ford Model A Coupe
Another fascinating photograph from our
regular contributor Cicos Florin in Constanta by the Black Sea (Romania)
who is interested in old cars of Romania. Do we know what
this is? --
It is strange just how many American cars
there were in 1930sRomania. This is another one. From the shape of the
grille and the angled sweep of the cowl, this a
cca 1929 Ford Model A Coupe, possibly
the Special coupe. Model As followed on after the Model T in 1928 and
were made in dozens of styles to 1931.

IDENTIFICATION AND DATING:
1931 Morris Minor 5cwt Van

it, so identifying year or car may help/bonus. The picture shows the car
and chauffeur from Roydon Hall, near Diss in Norfolk, just over the
border from Suffolk where the vehicle was registered.
-- Registration is
quite visible being RT 7595, which was issued by the County Council of
East Suffolk in mid 1931. The vehicle is a 1931
Morris Minor 5cwt Van, 'flat nose', OHC/SV
847cc. These were built 1929'1934.

Number of interesting photos sent to us by
Andrew Kostin from Moscow (Russia) who
is a collector of old photos and who has a website devoted to this
subject at http://antique-photos.com/en/. Can we identify these wartime
vehicles?
-- Suggested as a possible Mercedes Benz,
and is one. The W18 range of Mercedes Benz were made 1933 to 1937 and
had type number of 290 with numerous variants and four cabriolets. This
would seem to be a cca
1935 Mercedes Benz 290 W18 Cabriolet A.

Auburn 8-851 Phaeton
Another fascinating photograph from our
regular contributor Cicos Florin in Constanta by the Black Sea (Romania)
who is interested in old cars of Romania. Do we know what

The owner seems very full of himself and
rightly so because he has quite an impressive car. Made in USA in
Auburn, Indiana, it is a cca

The '8' indicates a Lycoming straight eight with a
Schweitzer Cummings Supercharger, power 150bhp, speed

Number of interesting photos sent to us by
Andrew Kostin from Moscow (Russia) who
is a collector of old photos and who has a website devoted to this
subject at http://antique-photos.com/en/. Can we identify these wartime
vehicles?
-- Suggested as a possible Mercedes Benz,
and indeed is one, it is a volkswagen. Manufactured 1934 to 1936
Mercedes made the Mercedes-Benz

Number of interesting photos sent to us by
Andrew Kostin from Moscow (Russia) who
is a collector of old photos and who has a website devoted to this
subject at http://antique-photos.com/en/. Can we identify these
Wehrmacht vehicles?
-- Difficult
to identify because most militatry vehicles had 'commercial' type
wheels/hubs; this is more domestic. Relatively sure now these were made
by Opel between 1933 - 1938 and are Opel

ones to have hubcaps.

Number of interesting photos sent to us by
Andrew Kostin from Moscow (Russia) who
is a collector of old photos and who has a website devoted to this

vehicles?
-- This was
suggested as a possible Mercedes Benz but is in fact a
cca 1938 Hansa 1100 Cabriolet. Hansa

and taken over by Bogward in 1929. 1100s made between 1934 and

Number of interesting photos sent to us by
Andrew Kostin from Moscow (Russia) who
is a collector of old photos and who has a website devoted to this
subject at http://antique-photos.com/en/. Can we identify this vehicle?
-- Quite easy
to identify country of origin and make of vehicle; UK and Morris
Minor. Little more
difficult to nail the year because 1.6 million were made between 1948 and
1971. From grille type, windscreen and sidelight size, can tell it is
Minor 1000 from between 1954 and 1961.

for 1st World War tanks, and parts for early Aston Martins. In 1924
