Daimler 12 HP
Lovely period photo received from one of
our SVVS members Mike Gorman (UK)
showing Pam's grandfather's car. The
picture taken in Bermondsey. The car had been purchased from Lord Howard
de Warden family. Believe photo taken pre 1908. --
Registration is London County Council
early 1904. The car is a cca
1904 Daimler 12HP, unlikely 22, probably
a Tonneau but without curved scuttle. The solid rear tyres seem to
indicate hard work, so perhaps used in estate hunting events?

Brushmobile 6HP 2 Seater
Period photo received from Paul Levey (UK)
saying 'Picture of friends of wife's parents Harry and Kitty
Bolton. Sadly, all long gone and we only came across this photograph recently. Seems same location as on your website. 'Paid for' photo
opportunity? -- This
is a 1904
Brushmobile 6HP 2 Seater
which seems to have been used as a 'photographer's prop' at/near Beaulieu. We
have traced a number of photos of different unconnected people sitting in the
car. See also HP41

Star 9HP Swing-Seat Tonneau
Our good friend Leif Holmberg (Sweden)
with whom we regularly correspond on identification of old car photos is
currently investigating a photo taken in 1909 that could be the first
car in his town of Storvik. Is it a Star?
-- Our Star
expert thinks it is indeed a British made Star,
most likely a 1908 Swing Seat Tonneau
9hp twin-cylinder ; the door handle releases the front passenger seat
which then swings towards the driver, giving access to the rear seats.
No connection USA Durrant-Star.

Extremely unusual car made in the Pantin district of Paris by Weyher et
Richmond to the design of De Cleves Chevalier who were the selling
agents. This is a cca

....and then two come at once, chasing each other ! Perhaps an early
example of Product Placement. This is a cca
1910 Labor 20'30 Tourer. Rather
confusing about the registration numbers suggesting perhaps
three Labor cars in the film.

HELP ON HISTORY NEEDED:1912
Unic Type J2 Taxi
Email received from Marc
Sabbe (Belgium) who says he has a
1913 UNIC as per photo, which shows how the car was found and is now.
In researching the car he found on the internet couple of cards showing
perhaps the original car. Is there anyone who may have an idea about
the history of that car with the number 61 on it? -- Regretfully
we cannot help. If same car, then the Photo Card advises a Unic
Type J2 Taxi 1908-14, probably
cca1912. Help on this car would be
appreciated!

Brennabor Type R Limousine
Another photo received from our regular
contributor Raoul
Rainer from Stuttgart (Germany) from
a batch of photos he purchased recently and has on a big website on line.
Lovely photo of perhaps a 1920s Opel but bonnet doesn't match? -- First
thought FIAT but wheels wrong. Not an Opel as rounded bonnet, no
mid-way hinge to bonnet and very peculiar wheel-nut arrangement which
suggests a cca

Front wheel hub different? Closed 1945 when
Soviet Zone.

Willys Knight Model 70 Touring
Another fascinating photograph from our
regular contributor Cicos Florin in Constanta by the Black Sea (Romania)
who is interested in old cars of Romania. Do we know what
this is? -- Looks
like a Buick but is not! This is a Willys-Knight, but quite
difficult to nail the precise model. The difficult bit is the quite
wide upright between the hinge and the top of the side of the bonnet.
Our Mark Dawber recons it is a cca

made fabric bodies for the Austin 7s. This car is also an Austin but is

car made by DKW ('Steam-driven Car' Co.) in Chemnitz (later

is a collector of old photos. Can we identify this photo of a captured
Mercedes vehicle in the town of Frankenberg in 1945 ?-- Yes
indeed a Mercedes and a development of the W143. From the chrome hub
caps this would seem to be an early cca 1938 Mercedes Benz 230 Cabrio
